Description
Ventnor Towers Hotel is an elegant Victorian house built in 1872 and has been a hotel since the turn of the last century. It is situated on the south coast of the Island in what is often considered the most beautiful location on the Isle of Wight. Standing in its own grounds on the cliff-side in Ventnor, this superb Isle of Wight hotel enjoys unrivalled views of the English Channel.
Since Victorian times, Ventnor has been known as the "Madeira of England", because of its exceptionally mild and sunny climate, mainly due to the benefit of the Gulf Stream and the shelter of St. Boniface Down.
The bar and restaurant boast wonderful panoramic views and provide the perfect venue for enjoying a varied range of dishes, from single snacks to a five-course dinner from the daily changing menu. Or simply relax with a drink in the comfortable bar. Live music is featured on some evenings in the bar.
All the bedrooms at Ventnor Towers are individually furnished and include en-suite facilities, as well as colour television, radio, direct-dial telephone, tea and coffee courtesy tray, hairdryer and baby listening service. Some rooms have a trouser press. Several spacious rooms and a number of ground floor bedrooms are available. The unique location of the hotel ensures magnificent views from most of the bedrooms.
The Ventnor Towers Hotel has seen many changes over the years in order to make it the comfortable hotel it is today. Many of the original features have been retained, including the imposing staircase, the high Victorian ceilings and elegant lounge, which is also used for wedding receptions, functions and conferences.
Much consideration is given to the outdoor recreation facilities, which are available in the four-acre grounds and beyond. The swimming pool (12m x 6m) is open from May to October and is heated to a comfortable 27°C (80°F). In addition to the seven golf courses on the Island, which are all within easy reach, the hotel features a nine hole pitch and putt course. Guests can use the all weather tennis, or make use of the local public courts nearby.
The grounds also provide a children´s paddling pool, play area and games room with pool table, darts and table tennis. Further outside pursuits include horse riding, wind surfing, sailing, bowls or clay pigeon shooting. The special climate with above average sunshine enables most of these activities to be undertaken all year round. For the more leisurely inclined, there are miles of spectacular coastline, sandy beaches and coastal walks along well signposted paths.
The Island has many places to visit of all descriptions and interests to appeal to all age groups. Details of these and of the many events taking place are available on request. Ventnor Towers is open all year, and short breaks are available from October to May.
Whether you are considering a holiday, a short break or a business trip, you will receive a very warm welcome and enjoy a memorable stay.
