The Isle of Wight is situated around five miles off the south coast of the English mainland and resembles a diamond in shape. The Island measures 23 miles east to west and 13 miles north to south – an area of 147 square miles, with a population of around 140,000. Over half the Island is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there is more than 60 miles of diverse coastline, ranging from award-winning beaches to chalk cliffs.
