Exhibitions

JMW Turner Exhibition continues................
2014 sees the final year of "Turner's Isle of Wight Landscapes and the Discovery of Shanklin Chine". Following his journey around the Island from his Sketchbook of 1795. We also mark the 200th anniversary of William Daniell's 'Voyage Round Great Britain, 1814-25'. One of the greatest aquatint artists, we are showing twelve of his Isle of Wight pictures, including Shanklin Chine, two of which have recently been discovered.

PLUTO
There is a permanent display about PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean). The display shows the fascinating story of how the pipeline carried petrol to the Allied troops in Normandy. A cross-section of the actual pipe can be seen, together with a short film detailing the story of PLUTO. Special features commemorating the 70th Anniversary of D-Day and details of the U.S. Rangers who trained in the Chine are also displayed.
