Come fly with Haven Falconry!
You will find Haven Falconry tucked away in Havenstreet in our special corner of the Isle of Wight. We have a wonderful collection of owls, hawks, falcons and doves, all reared and trained by ourselves with their care and welfare being our utmost priority.
Our desire at Haven Falconry is to promote and preserve the art of falconry and birds of prey, but also to do much more than just present the traditional work of the falconer. There are so many ways we can share with you the fun, excitement and pleasure our birds offer.
We operate all year round, with the emphasis being ‘hands on’, ensuring you get ‘up close and personal’ with our birds.
The Birds Of Prey Experience
Your experience starts by meeting the Falconer and the birds. You will meet a selection of our birds and learn all about their different characteristics, speed capabilities and hunting habits. Then you will have the chance to fly some of them to your gloved hand, under the watchful eye of the Falconer. Finally, there will be plenty of photo opportunities to capture a truly unforgettable experience lasting around one hour 15 minutes.
The Hawk Walk
Lasting approximately one and a quarter hours, the Hawk Walk takes you along public rights of way through some of the lovely Havenstreet countryside, accompanied by two or three Harris hawks. You will handle and fly the hawks and be able to observe their skills and agility while they follow gracefully through the trees. Along the way you will pass natural flora, fauna and wooded areas, and you may be lucky enough to glimpse red squirrels and pheasants, ravens nesting in the woods, and perhaps wild buzzards circling above in the sky above.
The Owl Encounter
The huge success of the Harry Potter books and films have introduced a whole new generation to the beauty and magic of these majestic creatures. Our 'Owl Encounter' introduces you to these most special of birds, with the chance to handle and fly them under the watchful eye of our expert falconer. From 'Whisper' our delightful barn owl to 'Merlin' our majestic eagle owl, you'll meet 5 or 6 different species of owl and you'll be thrilled and wowed by these 'close encounters of the owl kind’.
