Description

Chapel Cottage is a delightful two double bedroom, 4 star rated, rural character period cottage in the heart of the Isle of Wight countryside, with many excellent walks and traffic free cycle tracks nearby. Also, an easy stroll away is Merstone fisheries - a number of well stocked fishing lakes in the countryside. A selection of excellent pubs and restaurants are also within a 1½-mile radius.

Chapel cottage is available for weekly (Saturday to Saturday) lets and has recently been refurbished, decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The delightful lounge features oak laminate flooring, beamed ceiling, central feature fireplace, multi-fuel wood burning stove, digital home cinema with Nicam stereo wide screen digital TV with Freeview, video & DVD player and a Sony music centre. There is a spacious fitted kitchen/dining room. The master bedroom has a four-poster bed. The second bedroom has twin 2´ 6´ wide beds. The bathroom has a bath and shower. Electric central heating throughout is included. Outside is a west facing patio garden to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.

Apart from Chapel Cottage, we can offer two other Isle of Wight self catering properties. These are:

Malmesbury Cottage
Malmesbury Cottage is a delightful stone built period cottage situated on the outskirts of Wroxall - an “Islander’s village” near Ventnor. It has been sympathetically and tastefully restored to a high standard throughout and includes double glazing and gas central heating for modern day comfort. Malmesbury Cottage comprises an oak fitted kitchen, opening to a large dining/family area with circular dining table and chairs, oak laminate flooring, a central feature multi-fuel wood burning stove and attractive fireside chairs. The lounge is a separate room at the front of the cottage with a restored feature cast iron fireplace and flame effect gas fire, comfortable sofa and armchairs, widescreen TV/DVD/video player and a CD/radio hi-fi system. Upstairs are two double bedrooms. In the tastefully decorated master bedroom there is a superb four-poster bed. The second bedroom contains two full size single beds and a TV/DVD player. The large bathroom has both a bath and electric shower.

Outside, there is off road parking for several cars, lawned gardens to both the front and rear and superb countryside views across farmland to St Martins down. An excellent local pub and restaurant is literally 40 yards away and close by is a local convenience store. The nearby beaches and coastal paths of Ventnor are 1½ miles away and the resort of Shanklin just three miles. One of the Island’s top attractions Appuldercombe House, situated in gardens designed by Capability Brown is only a 20-minute walk away, together with the Owl & Falconry Centre. Within 200 yards is the Wroxall to Shanklin cycle track, and as this is a disused railway line, the track is almost flat. Some of the most beautiful walks on the Island are close by, including a pathway to the top of St Martins down, where stunning panoramic views along the coast to Shanklin, Sandown and beyond can be enjoyed and the cottage is close to both the Worsely trail and the Stenbury trail. Malmesbury Cottage was constructed from Island stone in 1870 as a railway cottage, which was excavated from the now closed Wroxall to Ventnor railway line tunnel. Former cottage occupants include Les Dennis, the TV celebrity.

Millers Rock
This 4 star graded luxury two bedroom apartment enjoys a prime location within a private road in the UK’s sunniest and southern-most town, Ventnor. Millers Rock is a most attractive Victorian period house standing on part of the former site of the original Ventnor Mill. The property was converted during 2007 into four high quality sea view apartments. Flat 3 is on the first floor and from the large double glazed bay window, panoramic sea views can be enjoyed. (Remember to bring binoculars for close up viewing of cruise liners, yachts and fishing vessels.)

Furnished and equipped with great care to a high standard, the accommodation comprises a lounge/dining area with bay window enjoying outstanding sea views across the new Ventnor fishing harbour/marina. Within the lounge, is a corner sofa, large LCD wide screen TV with DVD player and satellite digibox. In the bay is a glass-topped dining table with four chairs. The open plan fitted kitchen includes fridge/freezer, oven, ceramic hob, microwave and washer/dryer. The bathroom provides a WC, washbasin, bath and thermostatically controlled shower. The master bedroom has lovely views of St Boniface down and features a double bed, wardrobes, chest of drawers. A second twin bedroom has two 2 ft 6inch single beds and a wall mounted flat screen TV/DVD player. Directly opposite the apartment is a private parking space.

Millers Rock is situated less than a one-minute walk from the town centre with its large array of shops, restaurants and cafes and only two minutes walk from Ventnor’s beach and the new marina from where freshly caught fish and lobster can be purchased. The property also enjoys direct access to spectacular coastal walks. From the harbour, turn right and follow the coast path to Steephill Cove, or turn left and follow the coastal path to Wheelers Bay.

Millers Rock comfortably sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is available for weekly lets (Sunday to Sunday) throughout the year. Gas central heating, hot water, and fresh linen are included in the price. Towels are available for a small extra charge. Superb entertainment is available within 100 yards at the Ventnor Winter Gardens - the venue for many famous artists. The Drifters, Rick Wakeman, Jimmy Tarbuck and Chas & Dave have all appeared here. Visit The Spyglass Inn and Boathouse annexe for great local acts, and Ventnor Park during the summer months to see amateur artists performing on a Sunday afternoon.
