Christmas on the Isle of Wight is a magical experience for all ages. Many tourists chose to have a ´Wight Christmas´ in 2008, after the Island topped a list of UK holiday destinations for the festive season. A study of more than 14,000 bookings by Cooperative Travel, the UK´s largest independent travel retailer. revealed the Isle of Wight proved most popular. It came above London, Blackpool and the Scottish Highlands, as well as a host of other destinations for people holidaying during the festive break. The study revealed the UK´s share of Xmas holiday bookings was up six per cent from 2007 and 22 per cent from 2006.
